Hey guys!
A few weeks ago I traveled with the FDU Women's Bowling team to our second NEC tournament. Over the course of our season we compete in two North East Conference tournaments. These tournaments determine if we make it to the NEC Championship tournament in the end of March. For NEC 2 we traveled to Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. Before we leave for the tournament I spend a week creating an itinerary for our weekend. The itinerary will include our hotel, meals, and a timeline of what our days look like. For three day tournaments we leave on Thursdays, this is considered our travel day and we have a practice session at the center. Following the practice we went out to a team dinner at Olive Garden, team dinners are a great way for our team to bond. Every night following dinner we have a team meeting to recap how the lane conditions and prepare for the following day. We also make sandwiches for lunch after the meetings. We then get to decompress in our rooms or we spend time in the lobby with the team. The next day is the first day of competition, throughout the weekend we compete in 6 traditional matches and 6 baker matches. The standings are all win loss based. During the competition I record stats on out iPad, I record the pins left and the scores. This theme repeats for the entire weekend. The team was fighting for a spot in championships and unfortunately we were one match away from qualifying. Following competition on Sunday we started driving home and stopped for Hibachi at Benihana. Competition weekends are extremely tiring but overall are a good experience with the team even if we don't win.
